Pleasurable Childbirth
"
For the mother - there are many different birth experiences as there are women - yet a common thread connects all birthing women. This thread weaves into the tapestry of womanhood, providing us with a link to what is one of the very essences of what it is to be female. This is not to say that one must give birth to experience 'true womanhood', but it must be recognised that the experience of birth - when entered into and worked with consciously - provides a woman with an opportunity to connect with something very deep, very old and very powerful. To bring forward life in an environment of power & love (as opposed to fear and loss of control) gives a woman an experience that she can take forward into the rest of her life."

Pleasurable Childbirth

Q: “Is that possible?”
A: Yes!

At Nanaimo Hypnosis, certified hypnotherapist and mother to two home-birthed children, Karen Miller provides a comprehensive program designed to do just that- eliminate pain and fear from the birthing experience. Individual Sessions are available and HypnoBirthing® Classes are offered as well.

Sessions are tailored to your specific situation, birth plan, hopes, beliefs and expectations, physical health, fears or concerns. Whether you are planning to give birth at home or in hospital, and whatever your choice regarding birth attendant, you can prepare for a wonderful experience with hypnosis. You’ll learn self-hypnosis, deep relaxation, eyes-open hypno-analgesia and hypno-anesthesia and your intuitive-emotional connection with your baby will be deepened. As an added bonus, being in hypnosis is such a good, relaxing feeling that you will find it a nice treat for those last weeks of pregnancy.

Women who have experienced childbirth with hypnosis describe the effect:

“It gave me the tools I needed to work with my body during birth and allowed me to have the kind of birth I had envisioned- one free of drugs and interventions. There is no other experience like the feeling one has when your child is coming forth from your own body. You don’t get that when there are drugs in your system. My first birth (with epidural) was pain-free but also feeling-free. This time I could FEEL (my baby) being born. It wasn’t painful, it was magical.”

“ It worked! My doctor couldn't believe it. It was truly a natural and beautiful experience.”

“I am so glad I discovered (hypnosis) in time for my second delivery. I would never use any other method to have a natural birth, and I would recommend it to anyone asking about techniques for medication-free childbirth. The most important aspect of the program for me was home practice. You get out of hypnosis what you put into it. It really is amazing."

To give you time to experience the maximum benefit from your preparation we begin when you are about 7 months pregnant. We schedule five sessions of hypnosis at the office and in between you work on your own at home with a CD. The total program is $350 and if you go past your due date you can come in for extra sessions at no charge to maintain an ideal state of preparation for birthing.

If you think you might be interested in hypnosis for pleasurable childbirth or if you have any questions, give me a call and we can set up a 30-minute consultation to discuss your situation and needs. There is no charge for this initial consult and your birth partner and/or attendant is also very welcome to attend if you choose.

" HypnoBirthing® gave me a most priceless gift - that of fearless childbirth."

"... I wasn't in the least exhausted or worn out as I was from the other, more tiring breathing that I used with my first baby. In hypnosis, I set myself up to feel just the pressure and it worked. Throughout the entire birthing, that's the most that I did feel and with not a drop of anesthesia."

"My parents saw the video of my birthing and they couldn't believe that I was even in labor."

"Nothing can describe the beauty of our birthing experience with the HypnoBirthing® Program. I never dreamed after having two children with the other method that I could have that easy a labor."
